Would you like to build up your practical experience and skills in gardening?
Would you like to learn how to grow plants from seeds and cuttings successfully, from first hand experience?
This is a rare opportunity to work alongside a trained horticulturalist, teacher and member of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture in a beautiful four acre country garden near Chorley in Lancashire. Sue will explain how to select the correct seed sowing and cuttings equipment. Then she'll discuss how to collect fresh seeds or buy reliable flower and vegetable seeds and demonstrate different seed sowing techniques, which you will then have the opportunity to practise (you can take your seed trays and pots home with you). In the afternoon you'll learn about the principles of taking stem cuttings from plants and have the chance to practise the technique (again, taking your cuttings home with you.)
Complete beginners are welcome and the group is limited to eight people so that each person can receive support from the tutor.
Please wear warm, comfortable and practical clothing and sturdy footwear with good grips. We may be working outside, so please bring suitable waterproofs, if needed.
